Wireless Reader

Kindle DX Reviews and Information

A wireless reader that made me stop and say WOW... The Kindle DX is truly an amazing device that impressed me so much I had to do a review and share this.

If you love books, magazines, newspapers, and even blogs, you're going to love this - and there is so much more to it than that. Please, keep reading to see all the great features this wonderful device has to offer you.

This thing is so AMAZING I almost don't know where to begin. I'm an information junky and love to learn new things. I spend most of my days doing one of two things, writing or reading. If I don't have my laptop or a notebook and pen I use a digital recorder to write. Now I can use the Kindle DX to carry all my reading materials anywhere I go if I can pry it away from my wife who also enjoys reading.

Features:

High Contrast E-Ink Screen - This means you get clear, crisp text and sharp images that you can see even in bright sunlight with no glare.

Kindle DX ReviewsI like to read outside so this is a great feature for me. I can relax outside while I enjoy a cigar and get my reading done - my 50 year old eyes appreciate this very much.

Large Display - 9.7" screen means less fiddling with scroll buttons and more reading.

Super Thin and Light - 1/3 of an inch thin, as thin as most magazines! 18.9 ounces light. There are 16 ounces in 1 pound, and 4 sticks of butter equals 1 pound, so this weighs a little more than 4 sticks of butter. Bet it doesn't taste as good.

Free 3G Wireless - No monthly payments, no annual contracts, and it works globally in over 100 countries. Download books anywhere, anytime. You can even post to Twitter and Facebook, and it includes free built-in access to Wikipedia.

Kindle DX GraphiteLong Life Battery - Read for up to two weeks on a single charge with wireless turned off. Up to a week with it on. Guess what I'm taking on my next camping trip?!

Carry a Library - Holds up to 3,500 books, magazines, newspapers, and documents. Choose from over 630,000 books - plus almost 2 million free public domain ebooks you can get online.

Built-In PDF Reader - After an easy setup you can transfer personal documents to your Kindle wireless reader via USB for free at any time - or you can use Amazon's Whispernet service for a fee. I also do internet marketing for local businesses and can wow my clients with quick and easy access to lots of vital information.

Free Book Samples - This is one of the best features, in my opinion. No need to judge a book by its cover. Kindle DX wireless reader lets you download and read first chapters for free. Sample a new author or book - if you like what you read, simply buy and download the whole book with 1-Click, right from your Kindle DX, and continue reading. Wow!

Auto-Rotating Screen - Switch from portrait to landscape view as you turn the device so you can view full-width maps, graphs, tables, and Web pages.

Read to Me - Yes, Kindle DX can read many newspapers, magazines, blogs, and books to you with it's text-to-speech feature. Just think what you can do with two free hands while it reads to you!

You can download and enjoy more than 60,000 audio titles from Audible.com including bestselling audio books, radio programs, audio newspapers and magazines. Listen via Kindle DX's speakers or plug in your headphones for private listening.

Kindle DX ScreenOther Features That May Interest You:

Password protection so you can lock it up

It remembers the last page you read so you won't loose your place

No computer is required (ready right out of the box) but it does connect to a computer so you can charge from a USB slot or transfer documents

Fully charges in about 4.5 hours and the charge lasts up to 2 weeks

Includes 8 adjustable font sizes so even older eyes like mine can read in comfort

5-way controller for moving around the screen

You can listen to Mp3s on this too!

You can add/edit/export notes and bookmarks just like you were writing in the margin of a real book. You can also post those notes and book passages to Facebook and Twitter.

It has a built-in dictionary

You can search within a book or across your entire library

You can sync your library and last page read on your wireless reader with other devices (PC, iPhone, iPad, Mac, Android phone, and Blackberry)

It automatically backs up your purchases so you can re-download free

The content formats supported are Kindle (AZW), PDF, TXT, Audible (formats 4, Audible Enhanced (AAX)), MP3, unprotected MOBI, PRC natively; HTML, DOC, RTF, JPEG, GIF, PNG, BMP through conversion.

Wireless Reader - Kindle DX Side ViewOn Second Thought:

I'm not too crazy about the process involved with moving my own documents to the Kindle DX. You have to set up an approved email address, then send your documents to another email address where they will be converted and sent back. You can then use a USB connection to transfer for free, or pay a small fee and they will send it to your device. I think that's how it works.

This would be even better if there was some kind of conversion software you could download (free of course) and not have to go through them to convert and transfer stuff.

If you think you'll be moving your own pdf documents onto the Kindle DX wireless reader you can read about it here before you buy.

You may also need a clip-on reading light since the Kindle DX does not light up by itself. What? If you like to read in bed at night you'll want the light.

I'm not one to complain about things unless they just don't work as advertised, so in general I have no complaints.

Kindle DX Wireless Reader Images and ReviewsMy Overall Opinion:

As if you didn't already know, I love the Kindle DX Wireless Reader. I would absolutely recommend this to you if you are a lover of books, magazines, newspapers, or reading in general.

You will enjoy being able to have instant access to all your reading materials. That read-to-me feature is great when you're taking a nice bubble bath too.

Some people have even said the screen is easier to read than a real book, but I think you'll have to be the judge of this.

I don't often see these when I'm out and about in public so there is also a certain amount of "coolness" to having a wireless reader. I won't lie, I like the coolness factor.

What the Experts Say:

In my opinion the BEST experts are the actual users of the product. Reviews, taken with a grain of salt, can give you valuable insight worth considering.
